ESPN’s Matt Miller: Why Titans Should Draft Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love at #4 | The Rich Eisen Show

Give the Titans Jeremiyah Love

ESPN's Matt Miller returned to defend a specific piece of his mock draft against Adam Schefter's reporting. Tennessee takes Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love fourth overall. Schefter says no way. Miller says read the tape, read the roster, then tell him who else makes sense.

Rich framed the challenge with affection. He's known Schefter since their NFL Network days and is fluent in Schefter's body language. When Schefter says there's no Titans interest in Love at four and his face backs it up, that speaks volumes. So does Miller stand by the pick over Schefter's knowledge and expressions?

Miller gave Schefter his flowers. Trusts him completely. Would trust his weather forecast over a local meteorologist. Rich pushed back with a laugh. Schefter has reception. He doesn't have Doppler.

Then Miller made the case. This is the time of year when things change. He remembered when it was locked in that San Francisco would take Mac Jones at three, and then about three and a half weeks out, everything shifted. Free agency has moved Tennessee's board already. The Titans were active. They traded Tavondre Sweat, a very good nose tackle, for Jermaine Johnson. They added John Franklin-Myers. Pass rush, checked. At four, the edge rusher argument weakens because they already addressed it.

Where does that leave them? Miller walked through the alternatives. Reaching for a receiver like Parris Campbell from Ohio State or Mecole Hardman from USC feels early. Offensive line is possible, but they've already invested in JC Latham and others up front. If not Love, the remaining options are non-premium positions. Sonny Styles, the Ohio State linebacker. Caleb Downs, the Ohio State safety. Neither screams fourth overall.

So Miller goes back to the board. Love is the best player in this class in his opinion, and Tennessee has a genuine need there with Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears. Why not hand Cam Ward, entering year two, a dynamic, rare running back to put the offense over the top?

Rich pushed the comp further. Everybody talks about Love being Bijan Robinson-like. Why wouldn't you want that next to Cam Ward in the same way some mocks have Love sliding to Washington at seven, next to Jayden Daniels in his second year?

The exchange landed on the real tension of mock season. Sources tell reporters what's on the board right now. Analysts watch tape and map it to roster context. Both can be right at once, and both can change inside of a week. Schefter saying the Titans aren't in on Love at four might be true today. Miller's argument is that by next Thursday, when Tennessee is on the clock, the logic of the roster and the tier of the player could push them right back to where the mock already has them.
