The question Matt Miller wanted to answer was the one scouts ask each other in the final stretch: who is moving up boards fastest. His answer ran through Tuscaloosa, but not to Ty Simpson.
Kadyn Proctor. Left tackle, Alabama. Started the season at 390 pounds and played himself into shape the way Shaq used to play himself into shape over the course of a season. By the stretch run, Proctor was playing his best ball. By the combine, he was 354 pounds and posting a legitimate workout. He backed it up at the Alabama pro day.
Miller does not think it is out of the question that Proctor goes at six. Cleveland needs a left tackle. The Browns have historically liked bigger-bodied tackles. The profile fits.
Rich noted the collision with DJ Daniel's mock, which had Mason Fano going to Cleveland at six. Miller's answer was the one every mock drafter learns to make peace with: right church, different pew. If Daniel is hearing tackle, and Miller is hearing tackle, the position is the hit even if the name moves. The Browns addressing the offensive line at six is the consensus forming.
Then Rich turned it to the only name that matters at running back. Jeremiah Love. Ten days out, where does Miller peg him?
Four. Tennessee.
Miller's logic: the Titans spent the offseason trading for Jermaine Johnson, adding free agents, and checking defensive boxes under Robert Saleh. Offensively, Cam Ward is coming off a strong rookie year. There is no wide receiver Miller loves at four. Drafting Love gives Tennessee a true inside-outside runner with breakaway speed, 94 and 98-yard touchdowns at Notre Dame on the resume, plus a two-touchdown receiving game against Arkansas.
Yes, it is rich for a running back. Yes, the team is young. But Miller's read is that Love is the best player in the draft class. You pair him with Cam Ward, and suddenly the Titans have a position player defenses have to scheme for. Right now, they do not have one.
That is the pitch. Take the back. Give the offense the piece that scares somebody.
