Chace Crawford on His Favorite ‘The Boys’ Scene & Upcoming ‘The Land’ Browns Show

Chace Crawford stopped by The Rich Eisen Show with the series finale of The Boys on the calendar and a new football-flavored project on deck.

Rich asked Crawford to name his favorite scene from The Boys. Crawford paused, then went back to season one. He was sitting in a van in a warehouse, the crew was rocking the vehicle, and there was an animatronic green dolphin in the back. He was supposed to be saving it from Oceanland, spritzing it down between takes. The crew was howling at video village. Crawford remembered thinking, what kind of show are we making and is anyone going to connect with this?

Then came the exterior shot. They ejected the dolphin out of a windshield. It got run over by a semi. Crawford said it ended up being his favorite scene, a moment that read like The Fugitive but with a dolphin. He was driving the ambulance. It was ridiculous. It was also exactly the kind of swing that defines the show.

Rich said that is the appeal. Very few shows make him say holy crap and not see it coming. Crawford agreed. That is The Boys. Asked if they would ever do something like that again, Crawford said never.

The conversation turned to Crawford's next project. He is in The Land, a Hulu series following the Cleveland Browns and a father-son storyline tied to the franchise. Crawford plays the general manager of the Browns. He compared the role to a young Les Snead type of executive. Christopher Meloni plays the head coach, a Dan Campbell-esque presence Crawford said you fall in love with right away on screen.

Crawford rattled off the rest of the cast. William H. Macy plays the owner. Manny Montana and Chloe Bennet are also in. He has seen the first three episodes and called it awesome. He did not want to give too much away.

Rich brought up a sizzle reel he had seen because the show shot scenes at the actual NFL Draft. Production needed realism. Rich was on set as part of his Draft Day cameo, joined by Ian, Charles Davis and others. Roger Goodell got up to the podium and announced a fictional Cleveland Browns quarterback pick.

The reaction in the building was real. Steelers fans in attendance saw a Browns helmet, saw the commissioner, and booed on instinct. They had no idea the moment was for a show that had not aired yet. Rich called it a sign of how deep the rivalry runs. Crawford laughed. Browns fans, he said, should take heart. Steelers fans hate them so much they will boo a fake quarterback.

Crawford said he wants to come back when The Land drops. Rich agreed. The series finale of The Boys arrives May 20. All four prior seasons stream on Prime Video, with the fifth and final season releasing weekly on Wednesdays. Crawford signed off encouraging viewers to follow him on Instagram.
