WWE’S Seth Rollins: What to Expect in His WrestleMania 42 Showdown vs Gunther | The Rich Eisen Show

Seth Rollins vs. Gunther, Vegas

Seth Rollins drops by fresh off a Good Morning Football appearance, cleared and ready to work, with WrestleMania 42 two weekends away in Las Vegas.

He tells Rich he has been great. Fully healed. Fully cleared. Back on WWE television. When he got hurt in October, the first thing he thought about was WrestleMania. Missing it was the fear. He has missed one WrestleMania in his career, and he calls it one of the lowest moments he has had in the business. Getting back by the grandest stage was the goal all along.

His opponent is Gunther. Rich remembers Gunther coming on the show in New York in December, right before the Cena match, and laying out exactly what he was going to do. Then he went out and did it. Rollins agrees, the ring general is the real deal. No joke, legitimate. Rollins has known him since his Walter days at WXW in Germany. Both of them came from nowhere. Nobody expected either of them to become massive stars, and now they stand as two of the most renowned in ring performers of the last two decades. They have shared a ring once before, seven years ago, and this one will be a real test, especially as Rollins's first match back.

Rich asks if Rollins wants to use the stage the way Gunther did in December, to speak the outcome into existence. Rollins declines to make predictions about the result. What he will promise is a show. He will look anyone dead in the eye and guarantee the WrestleMania version of Seth Rollins. The very best version. Everything he has got, in Las Vegas.

Rich notes it has been six months out of the ring, and Rollins agrees he has been jonesing for it. Nerve wracking, no trial runs, straight into the fire. But this is not his first rodeo.

The back half of the segment turns to the broadcast itself. WrestleMania 42 runs Saturday April 18 and Sunday April 19 at Allegiant Stadium. It streams on the ESPN app exclusively for fans with the ESPN Unlimited plan starting at six Eastern. The first hour of each night broadcasts live on ESPN2 and ESPN respectively. Rich lights up about the TJ Jefferson connection on the Friday coverage. Rollins confirms, TJ is in. Rich calls it a nice hustle. Rollins says the crew has earned it, and WWE could not be more excited about the deeper ESPN tie in. Rich closes by thanking him for the time, and Rollins leaves with an anytime.

Two promos got delivered here. One for the match. One for the network.
