The San Francisco 49ers are about to cover 38,105 air miles in 2026. Two international games. Melbourne to open the season. Mexico City in Week 11. Rich made them a binge-watching list to get through it.
The numbers came out before the show via Adam Schefter's tweet. The Cowboys are fourth at just under 28,000. The Rams 35,000. The Texans 28,000.
"The Rams are not too far off," Rich said.
But nobody is in the 49ers' airspace. Two international games, plus a baseline travel slate, equals 38,105 miles.
"Top five TV shows and movies the 49ers should binge while traveling," Rich said.
Number five was a Lakers-inspired pick.
"Take care of your stars," Rich said. "You never know when somebody might be feeling left out or feeling like you're not appreciating them."
The recommendation was Olivia Culpo's family reality show.
"Binge-watch the Culpo Sisters," Rich said. "Olivia and her sisters had a show back in 2022. One season. It's a reality show. Binge-watch it."
The Christian McCaffrey connection went unspoken. The cast knew.
Number four was George Kittle therapy. Rich pulled up Kittle's tweet from earlier in the day about killing a half-dollar-sized spider in the bathroom at 4 a.m. using his rehab slant board.
"In honor of George, why not binge the 1990 film Arachnophobia?" Rich said.
Number three was for the quarterback room.
"Let's just hit the whole quarterback room," Rich said.
The 1988 film Mac and Me, the Paul Rudd-Conan O'Brien troll classic about an alien escaping NASA and befriending a boy in a wheelchair, was the pick.
"Brock Purdy can give a speech at the front of the cabin," Rich said. "Let's binge it. Let's watch it. Mac and me. Mac Jones."
Number two reached for the most iconic San Francisco escape movie.
"What's the most famous movie about getting out of San Francisco?" Rich said. "The 1979 hit, Clint Eastwood starring, Escape from Alcatraz."
The bonus, Rich said, is the eternal post-movie debate about whether the prisoners survived.
Number one was a 1962 deep cut.
"The 1962 film starring Gregory Peck, How the West Was Won," Rich said.
The cast started reading the credits.
"John Wayne, James Stewart, Henry Fonda, Debbie Reynolds," the cast said.
The pitch landed on its own.
"Our roster has stars," Rich said. "This movie has stars and it's the same goal, to win the West. Win the West."
Rich threw in a bonus pick just in case Brandon Aiyuk is still on the roster.
"Need for Speed," Rich said. "It's about going fast in California."
The cast workshopped alternatives. Mad Max for Australia. Desperado for Mexico. The Rock. Bullet. Mrs. Doubtfire. Even Crocodile Dundee.
The honorable mentions Rich threatened to add but did not include the 2008 Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman film, Australia.
"Mad Max, probably not the film I should, but I also don't want to go Crocodile Dundee," Rich said. "That's such low-hanging fruit."
