Suzy Shuster was not about to let Rich be the only one with a Top 5. She had her own drop, her own reel, even her own sponsor, with the whole bit presented by Hyundai. The only thing she forgot was the category, which she announced with great seriousness only after the dramatic music had already played.
The theme, once she remembered it, was perfect for the moment: Top 5 Flops of all time, leaning hard into the word's double meaning. A flop can be a failure, or it can be a guy hitting the deck to draw a whistle. Suzy went after both.
Number five was the Cavaliers, an all-timer in the choke department after coughing up a 22-point lead in game one. "Analytically speaking," she deadpanned, "they are still winning," keeping the show's favorite running joke alive.
Number four left sports entirely for Sharknado 2, which sparked a genuine debate about whether the first one was secretly good and exactly how many sequels there have been. The panel could not agree, which felt about right.
From there she got to the real flopping. Vlade Divac landed high on the list as, in Suzy's memory, the original. She swore she never even heard the term used in sports until Divac came along, and she has a vivid recollection of interviewing him in a Sacramento locker room, black leather jacket on, the unmistakable aroma of cigarettes and vodka in the air.
Number two was a curveball: Milli Vanilli, the Grammy-winning frauds who flopped in the most literal career sense. And the number one flopper, to nobody's surprise on this particular morning, was SGA. Suzy could not get over the image of him crumpling while Wembanyama stands over him looking like One World Trade.
She had room for one last honoree, and it was the greatest flop meme ever committed to the internet: Swaggy P, the eternal celebration that never needed a make. A loving roast, a slate of villains both real and reel, and a Top 5 that more than earned its production values.
