Overreaction Tuesday: Rich Talks Chiefs, Cowboys, Giants, LeBron, Ohtani and More

Overreaction Monday landed on a Tuesday this week. Chris Brockman emptied his bag and Rich worked through it.

The first board was Broncos-Chiefs as the Monday Night Football opener.

"If Patrick Mahomes is healthy for week one, that Monday night opener, AFC title game preview," Brockman said.

Rich did not buy it.

"You think the Chiefs are going back to the Super Bowl, so just say it," Rich said. "I can't sit here and say that's an AFC title game preview."

He started listing the teams that would have to regress for the take to land.

"Your Patriots aren't taking a step forward. Your Patriots regress," Rich said. "You don't think the Ravens take step forwards. You don't think somebody from the AFC South takes step forwards. You don't think Jim Harbaugh's taking a step forward. There's so many ways that this can be wrong. I will call this an overreaction."

He kept the Chiefs love alive.

"This league is more interesting when the Chiefs perform well than not," Rich said. "I was proven correct last year. You will miss the Chiefs."

The next slot was Giants-Cowboys Sunday Night Football Week 1.

"That game's going to feature the NFC East champion," Brockman said.

Rich agreed.

"The Commanders don't get Jayden Daniels back and look anything like his rookie season," Rich said. "Philadelphia Eagles, who are like Brett Saberhagen every other year. They're terrific, and then the in-between years they're not."

The conclusion was tight.

"It feels like a Giants-Cowboys," Rich said. "All roads lead through Dallas on Sunday night."

The fantasy football board got opened next. Brockman asked TJ how many mock drafts he had done.

"At least 12 in the last four days," TJ said.

Brockman's prediction was that Bijan Robinson would threaten the single-season rushing record this year.

"He is going to threaten the single-season rushing yards mark this year," Brockman said. "2,105 yards, Eric Dickerson, 1984."

Rich called it.

"That's an overreaction," Rich said.

The basketball board came next.

"Monday's loss to OKC, LeBron's last game as a Laker," Brockman said.

Rich said no.

"That is not an overreaction," Rich said. "I think he stays."

The OKC piece followed.

"The Thunder are a wagon," Brockman said. "They're not going to lose more than two games the rest of the way."

Rich did not call it an overreaction.

"I don't think this is an overreaction at all," Rich said. "They're unbelievable."

He listed the roster to underline the point.

"Lu Dort, RJ AJ Mitchell, Jalen Williams, Alex Caruso, Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins, Cason Wallace, Jared McCain," Rich said. "You can even throw Hartenstein in there, who is terrific."

The baseball overreaction was the same one Brockman keeps making.

"Enough with the pitching sideshow," Brockman said. "Ohtani needs to go back to hitting only or the Dodgers not going to make the NLCS."

Rich shut it down.

"You don't take somebody that talented and remove them from the rotation, ever," Rich said. "This is your worst take of the day."

The closer was the PGA Championship.

"Rory taking home the PGA," Brockman said.

Rich agreed.

"Not an overreaction," Rich said. "What a story that would be. Certainly going into the Open Championship."

He added the Philly bit.

"Are they making sure that no one from Northern Ireland's allowed to get tickets?" Rich said. "Just trying to see if that's the way Philadelphia's just rolling right now."
