NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah: the #1 Pick in the 2027 NFL Draft Will Be…?

NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah told Rich on Wednesday that if he had to call the first overall pick of the 2027 NFL Draft today, he would take Oregon quarterback Dante Moore over Texas quarterback Arch Manning, and he would have Dan Marino read the card in Miami.

The prediction came under the show's standing rule for absurd forecasts: get it right and it plays on a loop, get it wrong and it never happened.

"I lean conservative, so I'm going to lean conservative and I'll go with the Oregon quarterback over Arch. I'll go Dante Moore just because I've seen him play at a higher level for a longer period of time," Jeremiah said. "Arch has all the ability in the world and I'm looking forward to really studying him. I've just, I've done more work because I thought Dante was coming out. I haven't done that full work up on Arch, so I'm covering myself there."

The draft odds Brockman read into the room cut against Jeremiah. Arch Manning was the heavy favorite at plus 160, with Dante Moore, Jeremiah Smith, and CJ Carr all sitting at plus 600. Rich flagged the Jeremiah Smith number as the more provocative line on the board.

"Jeremiah Smith, what do they think this is, the Jets and Keyshawn Johnson? He might be the best player," Rich said, before adding the harder rule of modern drafts. "We will never see a wide receiver go one again. Ever. That's never going to happen."

The stakes for TJ Jefferson, who collects multiple Arch Manning rookie cards, were immediate. Rich joked that Jefferson's Arch portfolio loses value if Jeremiah is right and that the boat in the marina next to Mike Del Tufo's stays a fantasy.

Jeremiah leaned into the call when Rich pressed him to put a team on it.

"This will get me in big trouble here. With the first overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, yes, we're going to bring out Dan Marino to announce Dante Moore, quarterback, Oregon to the Miami Dolphins," Jeremiah said.

Rich reminded him that the show would either play the clip on a loop or memory-hole it depending on how the next eighteen months break, and that Jeremiah, by handing Rich the team, had done the harder version of the bit.

"If it's wrong, who's Daniel Jeremiah? I don't even know who he is. I have no idea. I'm sure it'll get taken off of social media," Jeremiah said.

Rich and Jeremiah will be on the Washington Mall calling the 2027 draft together, which is when the call either ages into a victory lap or quietly disappears.
