Michael Bublé: I’d Trade My 5 Grammy’s for 1 Fantasy Football Championship

Michael Bublé has five Grammys. He would like it known, on the record, that they are available.

"Have them. Take them," he told Rich. What he wants in exchange is his fantasy league's championship trophy.

He was insistent that this is not a bit.

"When I say this, Rich, it's not a lie. It's not a joke. Anybody in my life, including my wife, will tell you."

The conversation has been years in the making, because Rich and Bublé were once in the same fantasy league, the celebrity league Jerry Cantrell runs. Rich got disinvited.

Bublé could not believe it. Rich's explanation was that he had been complaining vehemently about the rules, and he conceded, with visible reluctance, that fantasy football is not real football.

Bublé would not grant him even that.

"My wife will say to me all the time, it's not real," he said. "And I will say, you don't know what's real."

The trade he is proposing is genuinely lopsided in his own telling. He would happily accept losing a Grammy, deliver the gracious version of the speech about how it was not his year, how hard he worked, how proud he is of the company he was nominated alongside.

Then he would take the fantasy trophy, which he has won twice.

The number that put the whole thing in context arrived when he mentioned what he had been doing on the drive over.

Eight leagues.

"I didn't mean to," Bublé said. "It just sort of happened."

He compared it, without prompting, to having four kids.
