Cam Heyward to Rodgers: Just Return

Cam Heyward is back on the show with the same message he delivered last year about the same quarterback, only this time he is more direct about what Pittsburgh wants.

Rich reminds Heyward that last year around this time he was making the public case for Aaron Rodgers to commit to the Steelers. A full year later, Rodgers is once again taking his time, and Heyward is once again being asked to comment.

His answer is clean. Just return, baby. That's all we need.

Heyward says Rodgers had a fun time being part of the group and the team enjoyed his company. He wants to run it back. No hedging, no diplomatic dance, just the veteran captain saying out loud what the locker room apparently wants.

Rich keeps stirring. He points to Heyward's upcoming draft party at Tequila Cowboy on April 23rd in Pittsburgh, and the guest list Heyward rattled off for his Not Just Football Podcast. A lineup of Aarons. Aaron Donald. Aaron Smith. A notable absence.

Heyward plays along. There is always a spot open for Aaron. Which Aaron? Aaron Rodgers.

When Rich asks where Rodgers actually is right now, Heyward deadpans through the options. Maybe a darkness retreat. Maybe shooting season two of Enigma. Maybe prepping for Jeopardy. His guy can do a lot of things. He will be ready for the season. Hopefully.

Then Rich pushes on the real question. When does Pittsburgh get an answer? Heyward doesn't know. What he does know is what Rodgers brought last year, and the way he says it matters. A breath of fresh air compared to the Jets situation. Accountable. Held others accountable. Loves the game. Studies his ass off.
