Lamar Under the Most Pressure?

No quarterback is under more pressure this coming year than the two-time MVP. That was the pitch dropped on Rich's desk, and he did not bite. Lamar Jackson, according to the premise, is about to crack under the weight of bottom-line graphics, hot-take panels, and other shows talking about him on reaction shows and morning debate programs.

Rich pushed back hard. Lamar is the coolest customer in the history of coolest customers. He lives on Planet Lamar. The idea that he is suddenly going to start consuming every bar at the bottom of the screen and every Stephen A. Smith take, and that the resulting anxiety will rattle a two-time MVP, does not track with the person Lamar has been his entire career.

The counter-pitch got sharper. Who are you, Lamar? Steph Curry or James Harden? Rich's response was dry. Both are very rich. Both are going to the Hall of Fame. The framing that one gets respected and the other does not is a media construction, not a football reality.

The conversation then moved to a line that Rich would not let pass. He got his coach fired last year. Rich cut in immediately. That is not how that works. Pressure is being Kirk Cousins in Vegas watching the Raiders draft a quarterback. Pressure is being the veteran whose job might not exist after the season. Pressure is Father Time tapping you on the shoulder.

Pressure, Rich argued, is not living up to your own expectations, and those expectations are internal. Lamar sets them. The television ticker does not. Rich does not see Lamar suddenly falling flat and becoming the reason the Ravens stop being dynamic. The defense was the issue the last couple of years, not the quarterback.

The segment was a clean pushback against manufactured drama. Lamar Jackson has two MVPs, a clear identity, and a coach he is comfortable with. The narrative that he is one hot-take cycle away from losing his edge runs into the same wall every time. The guy does not operate that way. Rich appreciated the topic bar as a debate generator. He just was not going to agree with it.
