A post-draft edition of Overreaction Monday on Rich's show ran through the league's most contested storylines a weekend after Pittsburgh hosted the spectacle, with Rich and Chris Brockman trading takes on the Rams' future-tense quarterback bet, the Eagles' Jalen Hurts question, the Jets' four picks in the top fifty, the Cleveland Browns' continuing return on the Travis Hunter trade, and the Giants' new defensive front.
Brockman opened on Los Angeles using the thirteenth overall pick on Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson with Matthew Stafford coming off an MVP season. "They're going to wish they had taken Ruben Bane or Mai Lemon last week," Brockman said. "That's a wasted pick on Tai Simpson." Rich called it an overreaction while granting the premise, then sketched the alternative timeline. "The alternative is they do win the Super Bowl this year. They do put another one in the case. Matthew Stafford's like, 'You know what? I want to see if we can do it again,'" he said, before describing Simpson as a passer team sources say has "a similar brain tissue to Shawn McVey."
On Philadelphia, Brockman argued Hurts is entering a true prove-it season without AJ Brown and with a new offensive coordinator. Rich pushed back on the framing while acknowledging the heat. "I think also the offensive line's got to wear some of this, too, Chris," Rich said. "I I I think Sirani's got to wear some of this as well." He noted Hurts "only had the same offensive coordinator in back-to-back years once in his career."
The Jets drew the show's most generous read. With four of the top fifty picks and three first-rounders banked for next year, Brockman declared them the draft's winners. Rich agreed it was not an overreaction, citing Kenyan Sadiq, Omar Cooper Jr., D'Angelo Pond and Stanford pass-rusher David Bailey, who Rich said is "leading the FBS in sacks" and "graduating Stanford in three years, going and get the bag from Texas Tech."
Cleveland drew Rich's clearest endorsement. He pulled up the running ledger of the Travis Hunter trade with Jacksonville and traced it to Mason Graham, Quinshon Judkins, Dylan Sampson, Casey Conpsion, Spencer Fano and Austin Barber. "You got to say Cleveland won that," Rich said.
Brockman closed on the Giants. With Abdul Carter joining Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux, plus Francis Maui Noah added later, Rich called the rush "the most ferocious" in 2026 a non-overreaction. "You better have your hard hats when the Giants are coming to town," he said.
