Anthony Rizzo Priceless Reaction to Mike Del Tufo’s Dodgers/Yankees Combo Hat

Mike Del Tufo from Livingston, New Jersey, has worn a Yankees hat his entire adult life. Then the Dodgers won a World Series. Then he showed up on set in a hybrid hat. Then Anthony Rizzo had to look at it.

Rich sets the trap with care. He introduces Mike to Rizzo as his audio executive, a Jersey kid through and through, and explains that three years ago, not thirty, Mike was a full Yankees guy. Then the Dodgers started winning. Then they started beating the Yankees. Then Mike showed up wearing the new hat. Rich asks him to put it on and show it to Rizzo, a former Yankee, on camera.

Rizzo's face does the work. Oh no. Just oh no. That is the whole reaction, and it is great. He recovers gracefully, calls it a tough look, but the laughter has already left the room.

Mike defends himself with the only honest defense available. He grew up in South Florida, he is a true fair-weather fan, and he has now spent more years in California than New Jersey. Thirty in Jersey, thirty-one in Cali. He likes both teams. They were in different leagues until they were not. Rizzo, who has worn pinstripes, lets it pass with grace.

Rich is not letting it pass. He flips to Rizzo and asks who he was rooting for in the World Series. Doesn't really matter, Rizzo says, the Cubs were out. Yankees, one hundred percent. Then Rich tells the story behind his own Yankees loyalty in that series. He was at game one with his fifteen-year-old son Cooper, sitting down the right field line. Freddie Freeman's walk-off home run went right across his sight line into the seats. He cursed. Then he turned to Cooper and said, let's use this as our chance to beat the parking lot before you turn twenty. They left.

His larger point. He would never, ever flip hats. The Dodgers do their thing every time they reach base, the choreographed celebration, and Rich is fine with it. He is just not putting their hat on. No thank you.

Rizzo agrees with the no thank you, then drops his own twist. He was just at Tortuga Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale Beach. Ice Cube performed. Ice Cube rolls up in his Chevy, blows it out, and during pregame Rizzo started walking over to watch. He could not do it. He had to turn around because the flashbacks to that World Series were still hitting.

Mike survives, hat still on. Rich closes by reminding Rizzo he is too nice. Anthony does not disagree. The hat stays on the head, the joke stays in the room, and Rizzo loses without losing.
